Chandrashekhar meets Vajpayee; Third Front?
Friday, December 24 2004 17:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar today (Dec 24, 2004) called on former Prime Minister and NDA (National Democratic Alliance) chairman Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The meeting lasted about forty minutes.

While BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leaders maintained that Chandrashekhar had gone to greet Vajpayee on his birthday tomorrow (Dec 25, 2004), speculation mounted that the two leaders discussed a new front against the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government.

Chandrashekhar had of late been very active in the Rashtriya Swabhiman Manch along with RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leaders.

He has also been reportedly toying with the idea of forming a Third Front of non-NDA and non-UPA parties like the Samajwadi Party and TDP (Telugu Desam Party).
