Srinagar: One person was killed and 22 others, including three policemen, were injured in a grenade explosion by militants outside a security camp in Badgam district of Jammu and Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said.

The ultras tossed a grenade towards Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel outside their camp at Pakerpora, about 50 kms from Srinagar at around 14:40 hours taking advantage of heavy rush of civilians coming out of a mosque after offering Friday prayers, the sources said.

It exploded with a big bang killing a civilian Abdul Ahad Ganai of Drabgam village of Pulwama and injuring 22 including three SOG personnel.

All the injured have been removed to hospital, the sources said adding head constable Zahoor Ahmad, in charge of the camp, was among the injured.

The ultras fled the scene after the panic, which followed the blast, the sources said adding a hunt has been launched to nab them.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
