Anti-BJP, anti-Cong third front soon: Mulayam Friday, December 24 2004 22:43 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Auraiya (UP):
Exuding confidence about the formation of a third front, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Dec 24, 2004) said the anti-Congress and anti-BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) conglomerate would play a vital role in national politics.
"An anti-BJP and anti-Congress third front will take shape soon and play a vital role in national politics," he said at a function.
Alleging a "tacit understanding" between the Congress and BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party), Yadav said he would "soon expose it".
Referring to the victory of the SP candidates in Mainpuri and Akbarpur Lok Sabha by-elections, Yadav said the results have boosted the image of the party in the country and proved that it fully enjoyed the support of the people.
"The entire country was awaiting the results of these two constituencies after the manner in which the election commission had countermanded the October 13 Mainpuri by-elections which was aimed at tarnishing the image of the party.
The impressive victory registered by the party nominees has further bolstered the image of the party and proved that it has the backing of the majority of people in the State, Yadav said.
Alleging that the Election Commission "worked under pressure of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government at the centre" he criticised the massive deployment of Central Paramilitary Forces in Mainpuri in these by elections blaming it for the low voter turnout.
