Do not disturb: Uma Bharti is in strict 'ekantvaas'
Friday, December 24 2004 17:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Ayodhya: Firebrand BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Uma Bharti whose suspension was today (Dec 24, 2004) revoked by the party leadership, confined herself to puja and worship at the residence of former party MP Vinay Katiyar and did not meet the media which wanted her reaction. "Uma Bharti is in ekantvaas (solitude) and need not be disturbed......she will not be talking to anyone as of now, Katiyar said.

Her 'ekantvaas' is likely to continue for another two days, Katiyar said adding that she has however been informed about the decision taken by the party leadership.

Welcoming the revocation of suspension on Bharti, Katiyar termed it as the "blessings of the saints and mahants of Ayodhya who had recently wished her well and hoped that the party leadership will now utilise her services at the national level in a forceful manner".

Asked when Uma Bharti would be leaving for Delhi, Katiyar said, "Nothing was known as yet."

Katiyar rejected the speculation that Bharti's suspension was revoked following the pressure mounted by the backward caste lobby in the party saying that both he and Bharti believed in 'Hindutva' and 'Rashtravad'.

It also has nothing to do with the coming Assembly elections in Bihar, he said.

To a question, Katiyar said difference of opinion was bound to emerge among individuals but they should not harm the party.
