BJP will fail to get Hindu support; VHP predicts Friday, December 24 2004 21:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ratlam (MP):
Hindu votes would polarise and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) would fail to muster community's support during the coming Assembly elections in Jharkhand, Bihar and Haryana, VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) international vice-president Giriraj Kishore said today (Dec 24, 2004).
"Its a matter of grave concern that BJP has failed to deliver goods in favour of Hindutva. Consequently, Hindu votes would polarise in coming Assembly elections in the three States," he told reporters.
BJP will not be able to muster support from the Hindu community during the elections, he said.
Alleging that BJP has "harmed Hindutva, rather than strengthen it", Kishore said there was a need to find alternatives to BJP to strengthen it (Hindutva).
The VHP official, however in reply to a query, said that he was not in favour of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) or VHP becoming the "alternative" and joining electoral politics.
On the Ram temple issue, he said, "We will not wait for the court's decision and continue the work towards construction of the temple."
Welcoming BJP's decision to revoke suspension of its leader Uma Bharti, he said, "I am happy that justice is finally served."
