P V Narasimha Rao's funeral to begin at 11:30 am

Hyderabad: The funeral procession of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao will begin at around 11:30 hrs (IST) from the Jubilee Hall in Hyderabad.

The funeral procession would begin at 11:30 hrs (IST) and not at 13:30 hrs (IST) as announced earlier, official sources said.

The funeral, to be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, an array of his Cabinet colleagues will be held on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake, one of the major landmarks of the twin cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad.

The body of the late Prime Minister, who died in New Delhi on December 23, has been kept at the Jubilee Hall to enable the public to pay their last respects to the departed soul even as a large number of people are coming to pay homage.

Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy also visited the Jubilee Hall.

The director general of police S R Sukumara, Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Devender Gupta were among those who paid homage to Rao this morning (Dec 25, 2004).

The mortal remains of 83-year-old Rao, wrapped in the tricolour, were brought to Hyderabad from New Delhi yesterday (Dec 24, 2004).

Meanwhile, city police commissioner V Dinesh Reddy along with senior officials visited the hall to supervise the security arrangements, the sources added.
