'Pithru yagnam' performed, Rao's funeral begins

Hyderabad: After the ritual 'pithru yagnam', the body of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao was taken in a flower bedecked gun carriage from Jubilee Hall in a procession for cremation at Hussain Sagar.

Ten priests performed the 'pithru yagnam', attended by a large number of close relatives of the former Prime Minister.

About 50 villagers of Vangara village, Rao's native place, also paid homage and raised slogans "Vangara Muddu Bidda Amarhai" (long live the son of Vangara).
