Hyderabad: At least 38 persons were killed and thousands were missing as tremors struck coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh this morning (Dec 26, 2004) triggering huge tidal waves, official sources said in Hyderabad.

"Fifteen deaths were reported in Prakasham district, 20 in Krishna and three in West Godavari district while hinterlands were marooned in the nine coastal districts," the sources said.
