Dawood's aide to be subjected to forensic tests Sunday, December 26 2004 15:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
Gujarat police would subject underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's aide Omar Miyan Bukhari to the lie detector and other scientific tests to extract various details including that of smuggling RDX and automatic weapons via the coast of Porbandar town in the mid 90's, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) official said in Ahmedabad today (Dec 26, 2004).
Bukhari, who is on an extended remand with the SIT, would be subjected to the polygraph test, narco analysis test and brain fingerprinting test to know more and specific details about the RDX and arms landing, the official said.
SIT officials suspect that parts of the consignment, that was suspected used in the Mumbai blasts, could still be holed up somewhere in Gujarat after it was received by Bukhari off Gosa Bara, 30 km off the Porbandar coast and it is specific information regarding this that it is seeking out of the Dawood aide.
The role of police officials who were posted in Porbandar region during the arms and ammunition smuggling is also under scanner by the SIT but officials denied that the sudden transfer of an investigating inspector last week was in connection with this.
Bukhari's six days extended remand with the SIT ends tomorrow (Dec 27, 2004).
He was deported from Dubai recently on the basis of a Red Corner notice issued against him following which he was handed over to Gujarat police that formed a SIT to grill him.
