Seven persons, including two commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in separate militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said in Srinagar today (Dec 26, 2004).
Security forces today shot dead a divisional commander of LeT outfit and his 'Finance chief' during an encounter in Bandipura area of Baramulla district, the spokesman said.
The slain militants were identified as Abu Abdullah alias Saddam, the self-styled divisional commander of LeT and Abu Hataf alias Lala. Hataf was deputy to Abdullah and served as financial chief of LeT in Bandipura, he said.
Two AK rifles, seven magazines, 135 rounds, four grenades, one satellite phone, two radio sets, a seal of police station Poonch and a certificate issued by Pakistani ISI (Inter State Intelligence) were recovered from the slain ultras, he said.
In the afternoon, militants shot dead one Ghulam Nabi Khan in Bandipora in the market area, the spokesman said.
In a clash between militants of Harkat-e-Jehad Islami and Jaish-e-Mohammad in Arkhada forests of Doda district, one Huji ultra was killed. He was identified as Altaf Hussain alias Majid of Kishtwar, he said.
Two ultras were killed in an encounter with security forces at Manjmi in Dessa sector of the district, the spokesman said.
Militants kidnapped two persons from Dhawankote area of Rajouri district last night. While body of Mohammad Bashir was recovered from a stream, Khalid Ahmad managed to give slip to his abductors. Bashir's body was found with his throat slit, he said.
