President Kalam speaks to PM about earthquake

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam today (Dec 26, 2004) spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and concerned officials about the earthquake and tidal waves that struck Indian coastal areas this morning and the relief, rescue and rehabilitation operation.

The President has written to the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry and Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said.

Kalam condoled the loss of lives and expressed concern over destruction caused to the habitat in the affected States.
