Chidambaram donates Rs one lakh for relief work

New Delhi: Finance Minister P Chidambaram today (Dec 27, 2004) donated Rs one lakh to the Prime Minister's relief fund for use in the relief operations to be carried out in the areas hit by the tidal wave devastation in Tamil Nadu and other States.

Spotlight: Tidal Waves hit South Asia

Earlier at the FICCI annual general meeting, Chidambaram appealed to India Inc to donate generously to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to help those affected by the tidal waves that took heavy toll on lives and properties in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

He is undertaking a two-day tour of various affected areas in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore, the worst affected areas.
