Powell calls up Natwar to express condolences

New Delhi: US Secretary of State Colin Powell tonight (Dec 27, 2004) called up External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and expressed condolences on behalf of his Government over the tragedy caused by the tsunami tidal waves in India.

Powell spoke to Singh, who is in Dubai as part of his three-nation tour of Arab countries, MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) sources said.

Spotlight: Tidal Waves hit South Asia

German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer also called up Singh to convey condolences of his Government over the tragedy, the sources said.
