Andaman and Indonesia experience moderate quakes

New Delhi: The south of Little Andaman and west coast of Indonesia have experienced two moderate intensity earthquakes, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in New Delhi today (Dec 29, 2004). However, no casualty or damage was reported due to it.

Spotlight: Tidal Waves hit South Asia

A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.1 on Richter scale, occurred at around 22:41 hrs (IST) yesterday (Dec 28, 2004) with an epicentre at 10.1 degree North latitude and 92.8 degree East longitude near the south of Little Andaman.

The epicentre of the other quake, which measured 5.3 on the Richter scale, was 4.5-degree North latitude and 94.5-degree East longitude near west coast of Indonesia and occurred at around 20:19 hrs (IST) yesterday.
