National Conference leader Farooq Zargar shot dead

Srinagar: National Conference leader Farooq Ahmad Zargar was today (Dec 29, 2004) shot dead by unidentified militants in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

The ultras shot at Zargar, provincial president of Youth National Conference at Kawdara on Nallamar road in Srinagar around 11.15 hrs (IST), the sources said.

He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, they added.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack in the downtown city.
