Godhra case: Police file supplementary chargesheet

Ahmedabad: Police today (Jan 4, 2005) filed a supplementary chargesheet against four persons accused in the Godhra train carnage case in which 59 Kar sevaks were killed on board the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express train on February 27, 2002.

The supplementary chargesheets were filed in the special POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) court by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the Railway Police against Siraj Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Rafiq Mohammed Majid, Bilal Abdullah Ismail and Farouk Bhurio Abdul Sattar.

All the four persons were arrested by police on separate occasions from different places including Godhra town.

This is the ninth supplementary chargesheet filed by the SIT apart from the main chargesheet.

As per the chargesheets 135 persons are accused in this case of which more than 100 have been arrested and 31 including, four members of the core group, that allegedly conspired the train carnage are still absconding.

Among the arrested are the alleged prime conspirator Maulvi Hussain Umarji, a Godhra-based cleric and others of the core group.
