IAF's Jaguar crashes near Bikaner, pilot safe

Jaipur: An Indian Air Force Jaguar plane today (Jan 4, 2005) crashed near Bikaner in Rajasthan, a senior police official said in Jaipur.

The pilot ejected using a parachute and was safe, Additional Superintendent of Police (Bikaner) Giriraj Meena said.

The plane crashed in a farm in Indian village, 20 kms from Bikaner, he said.

The pilot was taken to a military hospital for examination, he added.

The plane, on a routine sortie, fell in the farm and caught fire around 11:00 hrs (IST) soon after it had left the Nal Airbase in Bikaner district, Meena said.

No one was injured on the ground too, he said.
