The story of a 10 yr old girl who went to Andaman Tuesday, January 4 2005 10:41 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Port Blair:
The lone MP of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Manoranjan Bhakta, helicoptered down to Pilpilo village in the Katchal Island to ferry a traumatised 10-year-old girl who had gone holidaying with her parents.
The girl, Arman Javed, on her Christmas holiday to the village was terrified when the Tsunami hit on Boxing Day, washing away her parents.
Petrified by the fury of the sea, the girl a student of Class V of the Carmel Convent in Port Blair, however managed to seek sanctuary in the forest at a higher elevation.
All alone in the forest, she began walking until wearily she reached the Nancowry Hospital where she narrated her tale to the doctors.
When the administration of the Islands came to know of her plight, it was decided to bring her back. The MP flew down in a helicopter and brought her to Port Blair yesterday (Jan 3, 2005).
Still to get over her trauma, she was handed over to her grandfather at the airport, official sources said.
