Tuesday, January 4 2005 17:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Government today (Jan 4, 2005) filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing the bail plea of Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi in the Sankararaman murder case and prepared to file appeal against the Madras High Court order granting the Seer bail in Radhakrishnan assault case.

The affidavit comes in response to the notices issued by the apex Court, which has fixed January 6 for hearing on Jayendra Saraswathi's petition seeking bail in the murder case.

Meanwhile, the State Police prepared a Special Leave Petition challenging yesterday's High Court order granting bail to Shankaracharya in the Radhakrishnan assault case. The appeal is likely to be filed tomorrow, sources said.
