Maoist rebels abduct 300 bus passengers in Nepal

Kathmandu: A group of Maoists today (Jan 9, 2005) abducted 300 passengers from Lamaha section of the East-West Highway, 160 kms south of the capital Kathmandu, a media report said.

The rebels stopped six buses on the highway in Rautahat district at 5 am this morning and took all the passengers to an unknown destination, State-run 'Radio Nepal' said.

Security forces have been mobilized to find out the abducted people, it added.
