Monday, January 10 2005 14:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Imphal: Five militants were killed in interior Manipur early this morning (Jan 10, 2005) after an exchange of fire between suspected activists of the separatist People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PPK).

Official sources said that the identities of the militants killed were not known yet.

The PPK had broken away from the PREPAK about a year ago.

Reports from the Khordak area in Bishenpur district, where the violence took place, said that five bodies of militants with bullet wounds were recovered and being brought to the Regional Institute of Medical Science Hospital in Imphal for post-mortem.

Police commandos had rushed to the spot, about 55 kms south east of Imphal, to conduct a search, the sources said.
