Seer's bail received with enthusiasm & gusto in Mutt Monday, January 10 2005 15:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kancheepuram:
The news of the Supreme Court granting bail to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi was received with great enthusiasm by Mutt followers in Kancheepuram this afternoon (Jan 10, 2005) with several people bursting crackers.
The joy of volunteers belonging to the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) knew no bounds when they burst crackers in front of the Mutt premises and
elsewhere in the temple town.
Within the Mutt premises, for the first time after nearly two months, drums were beaten with gusto during the pooja, like witnessed prior to the Seer's arrest in November.
All these days, poojas and other daily religious routines were at a low key.
Devotees, who came into the Mutt today, were beaming, though Mutt officials did not come forward to make any comments. The enthusiasm was palpable though not demonstrative.
This was further overshadowed by the scheduled visit of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa later today, to pay homage to her party colleague S S Thirunavukkarasar who passed away recently.
