Giridih (Jharkhand): Charges were today (Jan 10, 2005) framed by a local court against Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren in connection with the 1974 Pirtand murder case.

The first additional district judge Manoranjan Kavi set aside the JMM (Jharkand Mukti Morcha) president's plea that there was no merit in the case as eight other accused had been acquitted. He set March 21, 22 and 23 as the trial dates.
