Tuesday, January 11 2005 16:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Jan 11, 2005) demanded a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into the arrest of two Shankaracharyas of the Kanchi Mutt as it accused the Centre of conniving with the Tamil Nadu Government on the issue.

BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also demanded that the proceedings in the Sankararaman murder case in which the two Seers are accused be shifted to another State.

"There is obviously a Central connivance in the affair," Naqvi alleged while talking to reporters in New Delhi.
