Raipur: Emphasising the need to share intelligence information, a meeting of ten naxal-infested States in Raipur yesterday (Jan 10, 2005) favoured formation of a joint task force to tackle maoist activities.

"Joint task force will be formed among affected states on need based requirement to tackle naxalite activities," Union Joint Secretary (Home) Anil Choudhury, who presided over the meeting, said.

The meeting convened by the Centre discussed the ground situation in naxal-affected states and favoured formation of a joint task force to tackle the menace, Choudhury said.

It also stressed the need to share intelligence information on insurgent activities, he said.

"Naxalites have international links and the Centre is in touch with other nations on this issue," he said.
