Ahmedabad:
The special POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) court yesterday(Jan 11, 2005) granted conditional two days bail to Maulana Hussain Umarji, alleged prime conspirator in the Godhra train carnage in which 59 persons were killed.
POTA judge Sonia Gokani enlarged the Maulana on conditional bail for January 14-16 to attend his daughter's wedding in Godhra.
The court however ordered Umarji not to address any public gathering during the period and said that he would have to be lodged at the Godhra sub-jail when not attending the wedding.
This is the first time that Umarji has been granted bail after his arrest in February 2003 from Godhra town and was lodged in the Sabarmati central jail.
The court has also instructed police to send adequate police escort along with Umarji to ensure that no untoward incident occurred.
