Bank accounts of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam frozen

Kancheepuram: The operation of bank accounts of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in various banks in Kancheepuram were frozen as per instructions from the Tamil Nadu Government, the Mutt sources said in Kancheepuram tonight (Jan 12, 2005).

The sources said the Mutt had so far not received any written intimation from the Government or from any of its banks regarding the Government order.

However, the Mutt authorities came to know about the Government order only when the bank officials told the Mutt authorities about it, when they tried to operate its accounts in some of the banks in Kancheepuram, they said.

The Mutt sources said it was not known whether all the banks, in which the Mutt has its accounts, were frozen.
