Sr Kanchi Seer performs Trikala puja in Kallavi Wednesday, January 12 2005 13:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kallavai:
A day after his release on bail in the Shankaracharya murder case, Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi today (Jan 12, 2005) performed the Trikala (three times) Chandarmouliswarar puja at the premises of a Mutt in Kallavi, where he is camping.
After the 'Dhanur Masya' puja, considered the most sacred in the early hours, the 70-year-old Seer concluded the next two 'Kalas' shortly after noon.
Seated on a stool, the Seer performed three different Aartis and then signalled to his assistants to show it to the devotees for paying their obeisance. The pujas were conducted behind a screen, which was removed only at the time of Aartis.
The focus has now shifted to this small town, about 50 kms from Kancheepuram in Vellore district. Devotees have started arriving since this morning to have a darshan of the Seer.
About 100 devotees, including several women, witnessed the pujas conducted at the premises, which mainly houses samadhis of the 66th and 67th Peethathipathis of the Kanchi Kamakoti peetam, the predecessors of Chandrasekahara Mahaswami.
Media persons, who were expecting at least a few words from the Seer, were disappointed, with Mutt officials indicating that he would not have any interaction with them, at least for the next two or three days. They also indicated that he was not talking to devotees, virtually continuing his 'Moun vrath' (vow of silence).
The idol of Lord Chandramouliswarar, along with other puja material, had been brought from Kancheepuram to Kallavi yesterday (Jan 11, 2005) to enable the Seer perform the pujas.
