Clippings of Sr Kanchi Seer interrogation telecast Thursday, January 13 2005 11:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi has complained that the junior Acharya Vijayendra Saraswathi was only concerned that he or his brother should not be arrested in the Sankararaman murder case and the he had no regard for his 'Guru' (himself).
The junior Seer had failed to show any regard for his guru, Jayendra said in the custodial interrogation that was videotaped after his arrest on November 11 last year.
The Acharya said that he had not asked that the temple official Sankararaman be beaten or stabbed and also expressed anguish over the letters written by the former.
The Compact Discs containing excerpts of the custodial interrogation were selectively delivered at the offices of some TV channels, which telecast it late last night (Jan 12, 2005).
However, the Kanchi Mutt maintained a silence on the telecast.
Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan, who had called on the Seer last evening, told reporters, "The whole episode is concocted." It was a mystery as to who distributed the visuals to the channels and why the channels telecast it, he said to repeated questions on the motive behind the telecast.
The clippings have been telecast at a juncture when the State Government has moved the Supreme Court, seeking modification of the bail conditions of Jayendra Saraswathi, saying that he should remain in North India till the filing of a chargesheet in the case.
