42 Myanamarese & Banglas arrested near Intl Border Saturday, January 15 2005 15:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Forty-two Myanamarese and Bangladeshi nationals were arrested while trying to exfiltrate to Pakistan via the International Border (IB) in Samba and R S Pura sectors of Jammu and Kashmir since last night (Jan 14, 2005), a BSF (Border Security Force) spokesman said in Jammu today (Jan 15, 2005).
A BSF patrol party observed the movement of some people around the border outpost at Bobiya near IB at around 02:50 hrs (IST) today and asked them to halt. Later they took the exfiltrators into custody, the spokesman said.
On preliminary interrogation, it was found that the group of 39, including six women and two children, hailed from Myanmar and had been brought to Jammu by some agents to cross over to Pakistan via IB to work there as labourers.
Army troops also apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals near the IB in Kulian area of R S Pura sector last night, he said adding that they were handed over to police for further investigation.
