Best Bakery: Defence plea for documents rejected Saturday, January 15 2005 12:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
A special court conducting the re-trial into the Best Bakery carnage yesterday (Jan 14, 2005) rejected an application filed by the defence seeking, in advance, the copy of all those documents, which were to be used by prosecution for questioning prime witness Zaheera Sheikh and others.
The court, however, asked the prosecution to provide the copy of such documents to the defence at the time of questioning.
The application had been filed by defence advocate D S Jambaulikar after the prosecution asked Zaheera questions about her affidavit filed before National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
The court also asked the defence to not to pose their objections in presence of Zaheera and said that the defence should first ask her to step out and leave the court room before stating their objections.
The court has repeatedly expressed apprehensions that she changes her answers in case she feels that the objections raised by defence are in connection with the answers being given by her.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned further recording of evidence till January 16.
