The Inter-Ministerial Core Group (IMCG) to coordinate long term reconstruction work in tsunami-hit areas was set up today (Jan 15, 2005) and it would meet on Monday (Jan 17, 2005) to consider rehabilitation plans and sources of funding.
"The Core Group will include representatives of Ministries of Home, Economic Affairs dept, Health, Urban and Rural Development, Science and Technology and Ocean Development," Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said after the meeting of Secretaries of the departments to finalise the composition of the IMCG.
It is being set up in the Planning Commission following Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's directions, he said.
In today's meeting, the Ministries and departments concerned nominated their representatives for the Group. It would seek plans from the members - and ADB - to set targets and monitor implementation.
