No proposal to takeover Kanchi Mutt: TN Govt

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Government has no proposal to takeover the Kanchi Mutt, a top State Government official said today (Jan 15, 2005).

"There is no change in Government's policy announced by the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, in November last that there is no plan with the Government to take over the 2500 year old Mutt," the official said scotching rumours to the effect.
