'DMK will never demand dismissal of Jaya's Govt' Monday, January 17 2005 19:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) would never demand the dismissal of the AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) Government, the party president M Karunanidhi said in Chennai today (Jan 17, 2005).
In an article in the party's official organ, 'Murasoli', Karunanidhi said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, in a letter to her partymen, had unnecessarily drawn the DMK into a controversy, saying that that the party was jealous of her Government, as it had organised relief work on a war-footing for the Tsunami victims.
The DMK, he said, was never jealous of anybody who provided relief.
"Why she is in angry with us. Have we joined the BJP in demanding her Government's dismissal. We never demanded that?" he said.
Jayalalithaa should not expect Opposition parties to toe her line, he said, adding that the Opposition had the right to criticise any shortcomings in relief work.
