Mutt Manager remanded to one-day police custody

Kancheepuram: The Kanchi Mutt manager, Sundaresa Iyer, arrested on Dec 24, in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, was today (Jan 17, 2005) remanded to one-day police custody by a Magistrate in Kancheepuram.

Judicial Magistrate-I, G Uthamaraja, today granted the police custody from 5.30 PM today to 5.20 PM tomorrow.

Earlier, the police sought seven days custody, but the Magistrate granted only one-day custody.

On January 7, Uthamaraja extended the judicial remand of Sundaresa Iyer till January 20. He is now lodged in Chennai central prison.
