The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said that a decision on linking peninsular rivers would be taken after consulting economists, technical and environmental experts.
In a letter to MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) chief Vaiko, who had written to him on this issue, the Prime Minister had stated that the Centre had not given up the project.
The Prime Minister said a decision had been taken to concentrate on linking the peninsular rivers, as agreed in the Common Minimum Programme, an MDMK press release said in Chennai.
