Veerappan speaks from the grave: 'Nanmaye sai '
Monday, January 17 2005 10:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Coimbatore: A statue of slain brigand, Veerappan, has suddenly been found installed at his grave in Moolakkadu near Mettur in Salem district.

The three-foot mud statue bears a close resemblance to Veerappan, who was killed in an encounter on October 18 last year near Dharmapuri, in his usual olive green uniform, sporting a 'handlebar' moustache and holding a rifle on his shoulder. The statue appeared early morning yesterday (Jan 16, 1005), police sources said today (Jan 17, 2005).

The news of the sudden appearance of the statue was attracting a large number of people in and around the area, they said.

'Nanmaye sai,' (do only good) was written on the statue.

The matter is being investigated, the sources said.
