Proof to summon Joshi, Uma in Ayodhya case: CBI Tuesday, January 18 2005 10:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Lucknow:
CBI yesterday (Jan 17, 2005) told the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court that the material on record was "prima-facie sufficient" for summoning and framing charges against six leaders, including former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
Concluding his arguments on the criminal revision petitions filed by the leaders challenging the summons against them, CBI counsel P K Chaubey said, "The September 2003 order passed by Rae Bareli special court needs no interference as the material on record was prima-facie sufficient for summoning them for framing charges."
Justice Y R Tripathi then posted the matter for January 25 to resume hearing.
The court said that the criminal revision filed by Haji Mehboob against the acquittal of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president L K Advani will also be heard on that day.
