Godhra report: Sonia-led conspiracy against Hindus
Tuesday, January 18 2005 17:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: Slamming the justice U C Banerjee committee interim findings on the Godhra carnage, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) general secretary Ananth Kumar today (Jan 18, 2005) charged that it was a "Sonia Gandhi led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) conspiracy against Hindu majority."

Questioning the timing of the release of the report, apparently suspecting that it was done to coincide with the Assembly polls in Bihar, Kumar told reporters the committee had ignored the evidence of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Godhra incident.

The Godhra panel findings were "twisted out of context", he said, adding, the committee formed in September 2004 and given extension on December 3 had submitted its interim report on January 17.

The committee did not take the submissions from the investigating officers of the SIT, he said.

"It is a Sonia-led conspiracy against Hindu majority," he charged.

Alleging that ever since Sonia Gandhi became the UPA chairperson, the "onslaught against Hindus had started", he cited the arrest of the Kanchi Seer Sri Jayendra Saraswathi as a case in point.
