We wanted Rahul Gandhi & we have got him: UPCC Tuesday, January 18 2005 22:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chitrakoot:
The two-day training camp of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) to groom young leadership in the politically-crucial state ended in Chitrakoot today (Jan 18, 2005) with the leadership asserting it had now a young dynamic leader in Rahul Gandhi to take on challenges confronting the party.
"We have a leader (Rahul Gandhi) with a clean image. We required this leadership and we have got it," UPCC vice president Salman Khurshid told reporters in Chitrakoot.
Terming the camp as a big success, he said serious discussions were held at the two-day Yuva Chintan to devise strategies to face challenges that lay ahead for the party in the State.
"We discussed ways to strengthen ourselves in the State. Since Congress cannot indulge in politics of caste and religion, it will have to think on how to tackle this kind of politics," Khurshid said.
"Our endeavour is to know about our rivals and to deliberate why we failed while others successed in snatching our vote bank," he said.
