Raipur:
After the recovery of huge cache of Pakistan and British manufactured ammunition, Chhattisgarh police today (Jan 18, 2005) claimed that Islamabad was providing arms to the naxals.
"Some of the naxalite commanders during interrogation revealed that the ultras have received some weapons from Pakistan," a top police sources said in Raipur.
"Although the Maoist leaders have said that their outfit had received weapons from Pakistan they failed to provide any details as to how it landed in the country and who received it," sources said.
There was information that Maoists have been receiving arms and ammunitions from their foreign links via North Eastern States but it was the first statement by any naxalite leader about receiving weapons from Pakistan and it needed to be verified by national agencies like IB (Intelligence Bureau), they said.
On January 8 about 200 ammunition cases were recovered with Pakistan and British marks from Indrakhori area of Balrampur district where the SHO (Station House Officer) and two constables were ambushed by the Maoists.
