Pak troops have not fired, no ceasefire violation

Islamabad: Pakistan last night (Jan 18, 2005) said that its troops in Poonch sector also heard some explosions in the Indian Territory, but investigations have confirmed that no firing has taken place from its side and ceasefire has not been violated.

Reacting to reports of mortar firing in Poonch allegedly from Pakistan side, Pakistan Defence spokesman, Maj Gen Shaukat Sultan said that inquiries have revealed that Pakistan soldiers also heard some "blasts" around 15 meters within the "enemy territory".

"There is no firing from Pakistan side. Our soldiers have no idea about the incident. There is no firing or ceasefire violation from our side," he said.
