Wednesday, January 19 2005 15:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: A five-member team of CBI and CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) have been flown to Kathmandu to carry out investigations into the firing incident at the Indian mission there in which two CISF men were killed.

The case was handed over to CBI after a decision by the Government, which directed the agency to initiate probe into the incident.

The team was flown in a special aircraft last evening (Jan 18, 2005) and is expected to return "shortly", agency sources said.

The team is also expected to bring back along with them the bodies of the two victims - CISF constables T Shanker and R Kannan, and the accused, Ravinder Rana, they said.

Initial investigation showed that the firing occurred after a verbal duel between the constables who were in an inebriated state.
