What action will EC take against Laloo? Thackeray Thursday, January 20 2005 14:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has asked the Election Commission (EC) as to what action it will initiate against Railway Minister and RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) chief Laloo Prasad for releasing Justice Banerjee's interim report on Godhra train carnage just before Assembly elections in three states including Bihar.
"When there are elections in three states, including Bihar doesn't the Justice Banerjee' interim report on Godhra carnage violate the model code of conduct?" Thackeray said in party mouthpiece 'Samna' in Mumbai today (Jan 20, 2005).
He said that Laloo as a Railway Minister appointed the one-man committee for the inquiry "he does not have constitutional rights and Justice Banerjee has come out with his own conclusions on the train carnage."
"This is not the final report but its release keeping an eye on the Assembly elections does violate model code of conduct," Thackeray said.
"It is our open question to the Election Commission as to what action it will initiate against the RJD chief," Thackeray said.
