Another Mutt official, Srinivasachar found dead Thursday, January 20 2005 11:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kancheepuram:
The Manager of Uttaranchal Mutt, Srinivasachar, was found murdered inside the Mutt premises in Kancheepuram this morning (Jan 20, 2005), police said.
Police said that the body of the Srinivasachar, hailing from Patna, was found in a pool of blood inside in the hall of the Mutt.
The murder of the Mutt official today is the second one after the Manager of Varadharajaswamy temple, Sankararaman, was done to death in September last year inside his own office.
The Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi and Junior Pontiff Vijayendra Saraswathi have been arrested in connection with the murder of Sankararaman.
Police said one Ramanji from the branch of the Mutt at Sriperambadur, about 20-kms from Kancheepuram, had stayed overnight at the Mutt to take its charge as Srinivasachar was to leave for Patna following his mother's death.
This morning when the milkman came to deliver milk sachets, he and Ramanji found Srinivasachar in a pool of blood and his body bore several wounds made by a sharp instrument.
Police said that the Mutt, located just behind the Varadharajaswamy temple, was intended for pilgrims coming from Northern states, particularly from Bihar, to stay during their visit.
