Ten dead, scores hurt in Shiite mosque blast in Iraq

Baghdad: At least 10 people were killed today (Jan 21, 2005) and scores wounded in a car bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in Baghdad on the second day of the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday, a hospital source said.

A doctor of Yarmuk hospital said 10 people were killed and 40 wounded in the explosion, which occurred at around 9:30 AM (12:00 hrs IST).

The blast targeted the Shuhada al-Taf Shiite mosque in south-western Baghdad. Initial reports said six people were killed, but several of the wounded died in hospital.
