PHL: Chandigarh Dynamos beat Bengal Tigers 7-0
Friday, January 21 2005 17:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Hyderabad: Chandigarh Dynamos blanked Bengal Tigers 7-0 in a Tier II match to remain at the top of the table with 12 points in the Premier Hockey League (PHL) in Hyderabad today (Jan 21, 2005).

Rajpal Singh scored twice (4th and 27th) while Jugraj Singh (10th), Harbajan Singh (25th), Navdeep Singh (40th), Sardar Singh (54th) and Ravi Pal Singh (69th) pumped in a goal each as Chandigarh recorded their fourth win on the trot.

The inexperience of Bengal Tigers was fully exploited by the Dynamos with Rajpal Singh opening the account beating the Bengal custodian, who rushed out only to see the ball hitting the board.

Rajpal Singh repeated the act when he scored his second goal following a defensive lapse after Jugraj Singh had converted a penalty corner and Harbajan Singh deflected in a pass from the right just in time to hit the mark.

Scoring two goals in each of the first two quarters, Chandigarh appeared a bit relaxed, but Navdeep Singh put the side 5-0 up with a perfect reverse hit from the left flank.

In the last quarter, Sardar Singh found the mark from a return pass while Ravi Pal Singh rounded off the scoreline just a minute before the final whistle.

Chandigarh could convert only one of the six penalty corners while Bengal wasted the solitary penalty corner they earned.
