Kanchi Seer to urge SC to relax bail conditions Friday, January 21 2005 17:33 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kancheepuram:
Kanchi Mutt Seer Jayendra Saraswathi is likely to move a petition in the Supreme Court seeking relaxation of bail conditions on Monday (Jan 24, 2005).
"We will move the Supreme Court again asking to relax the conditions. We are moving the Supreme Court on Monday," Mutt advocate, A Shanmugam, told reporters in Kancheepuram.
Asked for his reaction to the charge-sheet filed by the prosecution in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Jayendra Saraswathi had been made accused number one, the advocate said he had come to know that the charge-sheet had been filed.
He said the prosecution had relied heavily on the confessional statement (under Section 164 CrPC) by Ravi Subramaniam, who had expressed his desire to become an approver, before the Magistrate.
The statement would in no way affect the defence case. "There is no concrete evidence against the Acharya and the Mutt in the case other than the confessional statement," he said.
