In a pre-dawn operation, Army troops today (Jan 22, 2005) killed two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants who were trying to infiltrate into Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC), Defence sources said.
A group of five to six militants were trying to cross over to the Indian side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) when alert troops intercepted them near the Poonch Nallah forward post along the LoC in the district, they said.
The militants came close to the border fencing and tried to cut it, the sources said adding that an alarm was sounded followed by an encounter in which the two LeT ultras were killed.
Other militants managed to escape towards the Pakistani side, they said adding that the operation was still on.
