Nizamabad (AP):
Reiterating its commitment to resolve the naxal issue, Andhra Pradesh Government today (Jan 22, 2005) said the second round of parleys with Maoist ultras would resume only when congenial atmosphere prevailed.
The Government is sincere in its approach to resolve the naxal issue and our stand was very clear right from the beginning, Home Minister K Jana Reddy told reporters in Nizamabad.
"Nobody should move freely with weapons in the villages in a democratic set up and only Government machinery dealing with law and order had the right to carry weapons," he said.
Reddy later reviewed the law and order situation in the district and inaugurated the newly constructed DSP office Building and IV-Town police station.
Hyderabad Range IGP Ratna Reddy, Nizamabad Range DIG Anjan Kumar and district SP Madhusudan Reddy were also present at the press conference.
